SPEAKING FREELY ON FLIPPING THE 98TH

Dorchester County has a good chance to be featured in the national news, but YOU have to make it happen.

If Democrats win the special election for SC House District 98, we will flip a Republican seat, push back on the disastrous super-majority Republican hold on the statehouse, and continue the momentum against the MAGA agenda that has gripped the country since 2016.

Early voting begins on December 22. Election day is Tuesday, January 6.

In two previous posts I have outlined the case against the Republican candidate, Greg Ford. He is a divisive conspiracy theorist with a non-existent resume for the position. His victory would simply aid the so-called "Freedom Caucus" in Columbia whose goal is to take the state back to the 1950s.

But Democrats have learned it is not enough to run against a candidate, whether it's Trump or Ford. We have to win with our own candidates and ideas.

In Dr. Sonja Ogletree Satani we have an experienced candidate with the background this district needs.

Unlike her one-dimensional opponent, Dr. SOS will bring many different skills and experiences to the job. She knows the small business world, which is the heart of our economy. She has consulted with dozens of entrepreneurs, many of them women, to open and operate new businesses.

She has a background in both human resources and health care management. The latter will be a crucial issue in Columbia as the cost of health care continues to escalate---an issue for which Republicans at all levels have no answer.

She runs her own consulting company (Corporate Cycle Consulting). Between 2019-2022 she was chair of the South Carolina Area Council of the American Business Women's Association. She is also a college professor and an experienced educator.

Her opponent's lone credential as a candidate is his military background. But she matches that as an Air Force veteran herself. Plus, she has Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification, which she will doubtless need in the political in-fighting in Columbia.

In a special election such as this one, where only a few thousand votes are likely to be cast, every one is crucial. So, to residents of the 98th: make history, help flip this seat, and send Republicans the message that the Democrats are back to show what good government looks like.
