CALL TO ACTION: JOIN THE “FASTING FRIDAYS” BOYCOTT

Let’s join the nationwide call to boycott shopping all day Friday–every Friday–to fight corporate greed and keep our dollars from profiting large companies that are quick to raise prices, ditch DEI and lay off employees but slow to react to consumer complaints and demonstrate humanity.

First started by  The People's Union USA this movement has recently been joined by Charleston Christian leaders who are calling their movement Fasting Fridays. They are asking that we boycott to protest corporate greed and income inequality. Charleston faith leaders see a white nationalist takeover of the federal government and our economy.  In a response to these issues and ongoing racial injustice and violence in the U.S. they ask us to abstain from spending money every Friday.

The call for a boycott comes as the cost of groceries and other essentials remains high. Those organizing the Friday shopping boycott accuse companies of raising prices while keeping workers' pay low. While families are barely getting by, CEOs are flying on private jets and politicians are selling us out.

So let us use the one thing they relate to-money! The one tool we have that makes them listen to us!

They raise prices, we stop spending. They ignore our voices, we cut their profits. They divide, we unite.

Beginning July 4th and every Friday thereafter-boycott!

It is easy to participate if you plan ahead. What do you do?  When it’s Friday, simply avoid all forms of shopping that involve socially irresponsible stores and apps, including online orders, fast food, and even meal delivery. If you need something, buy it from one of our local small businesses rather than a national chain.

Clip above is about the launch of Fasting Fridays from ABC News 4.
